New Jersey Chapter of the American Institute of Architects Installs Steven Lazarus, AIA, as 2015 Treasurer

Englewood, N.J. Architect is Founding Principal of Axis Architectural Studio

MOORESTOWN, N.J. (March 17, 2015) — The New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA-NJ) today announced that Steven Lazarus, AIA, will serve as the organization’s 2015 treasurer. The Northvale, N.J. resident was installed during AIA-NJ’s annual awards gala in Moorestown, N.J.

A registered architect and AIA member for nearly 20 years, Lazarus previously served AIA-NJ as second vice president.

Lazarus is a founding principal of Englewood-based Axis Architectural Studio, which provides complete architectural and interior design services to companies and individuals in the Mid Atlantic region.

Under his leadership, Axis has earned a reputation for provocative design style coupled with the highest standards of construction and architectural engineering. Projects range from corporate expansions, award-winning restaurants, medical offices, industrial warehouse projects, sports facilities, residential design, boutique stores and private education facilities. He is an alumnus of the Cornell University School of Architecture. In addition to leading and directing the firm’s staff, Lazarus is also instrumental in maintaining the strength of the firm’s finances.

“It gives me great pleasure to begin my role as treasurer of AIA-NJ,” said Lazarus. “In this role, I will draw upon the work that I do day-to-day to ensure that the organization is on firm financial footing, so that it can continue its important work.”

Other officers installed at the gala were Kimberly Bunn, AIA, as president; Justin Mihalik, AIA, as president elect; Ben Lee, AIA, as first vice president; Verity Frizzell, AIA, as second vice president; Nicholas Caravella, AIA, as regional associate director; and Kurt M Kalafsky, AIA, as past president. Robert Cozzarelli, AIA, continues as regional director and Judy Donnelly continues as secretary.
