Pair Caught With 70 Lbs. Of Marijuana In Car: Police
$2,000 and several cell phones were found on Alexander Hernandez, 26, when police patted him down.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Two Belleville residents were caught with 70 pounds of marijuana during a Lyndhurst traffic stop Sunday morning, police said.
Officer Joseph White smelled raw marijuana coming from the inside of a vehicle he stopped; the vehicle had tinted windows and no front license plate, said Capt. John Valente.
White patted down passenger Alexander Hernandez, 26, and found several cell phones, more than $2,000 and an Oxycodone drug, Valente said.

Driver Janetty Cordero, 24, admitted to police she had marijuana in her pocketbook, Valente said.
Police found about 70 pounds of marijuana sealed in several plastic bags in four large laundry bags inside the car, the captain said.

Hernandez and Cordero were both charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute in a school zone and possession of a prescription legend drug with a prescription, Valente said.
Cordero was released on her own recognizance. Hernandez was taken to the Bergen County Jail pending a hearing Monday morning, police said.
