Registration Now Open for Pre-K Our Way Community Communications Briefing

Meeting Will Provide Attendees with Insider Tools to Make Pre-K Expansion a Priority in 2017

EDISON, N.J. – Pre-K Our Way, a nonprofit, statewide effort that helps New Jersey’s communities bring high-quality pre-k to their children, will host a Community Communication meeting for North and Central Jersey about how to be engaged in the movement to expand New Jersey’s high-quality preschool program from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on November 15, 2016 at the Courtyard by Marriott – Edison Woodbridge in Edison. Networking breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m., with briefing and discussion starting at 9:15 a.m. through conclusion of the program.

Registration is now open for this public event for individuals who want to raise the priority of pre-k expansion in New Jersey and how together, we can ensure the expansion of pre-k is part of the 2017 gubernatorial and legislative discussions. Those interested in attending should register at www.prekourway.org/community-communication-meetings.

Over the past 18 months, Pre-K Our Way has held three regional forums and co-hosted local meetings with more than 80 communities around the state, building a movement with more than 20,000 individual supporters and more than 50 advocate organizations. As the 2016 election season comes to a close, Pre-K Our Way is looking towards 2017 to ensure that New Jersey’s elected officials understand the importance of expanding high-quality, full-day preschool for New Jersey’s three- and four-year-olds.

A 2008 law called for the expansion of New Jersey’s proven, high-quality preschool programs from fewer than 40 towns to more than 100 additional communities across New Jersey, and for that same pre-k opportunity to be available to all at-risk children throughout all of New Jersey's communities. The law was never funded, and each year 50,000 three- and four-year old New Jersey children are still waiting for preschool. Pre-K Our Way believes that the time is now to lay the foundation for the first months – and the first budget – of a new Administration in Trenton in 2018.

Online registration and more information are available now at www.prekourway.org/community-communication-meetings. Registration is limited and pre-registration is required.
