FAIR LAWN, NJ —Residents of Juniper Village at Paramus are set to perform Sister Act Sr. this Wednesday and Thursday at the Fair Lawn Community Center Theater in Fair Lawn.

The cast includes 12 residents from Juniper Village at Paramus, a senior living facility. The youngest is 73 years old, and the oldest is 97.

Four of the performers will appear on stage for the first time. The cast has been rehearsing since April for the June performances.

The performances are scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Thursday at 2 p.m. at the theater, 10-10 20th St.

The shows will mark a milestone for the group: This will be the first time the Juniper Village Perennial Players of Paramus have performed off campus.

Sister Act Sr. is part of Broadway Senior, a national program for adults 55 and older. Music Theatre International launched Broadway Senior in May 2025 with more than 100 senior centers and community theaters across the country staging adapted musicals.

The productions are shortened and are similar in format to Broadway Junior, but designed specifically for older adult performers.

Will Be Seated

To support older adult performers, the production will be staged as a seated performance. Music stands will be available, and some cast members will use extra-large-print scripts.

The original Broadway show has also been adapted through MTI for senior voices.

The production is directed by Stephanie McKay, the Connections Director for Juniper Village. Musical direction is by Steve Bell, who also directed previous Juniper Village productions of Guys and Dolls SR and Fiddler on the Roof Sr.

Assistant Director Carlos Palencia Junior and Bell are both members of the Bergen County Players.

The performances are free, and seating is first come, first served at Fair Lawn Community Center. Although the audience will be mainly family and friends of the residents, others are welcome to attend. For more information, call Juniper Village at Paramus at (201) 251-9600.
