An armed intoxicated man who was suicidal during a three-hour standoff was arrested this weekend in New Jersey, police said.

Upon police arrival, several family members fled the home. Christopher Koski, 24, proceeded to throw two rifles out of the second floor window but remained inside the home, police said.

Koski was charged possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, and possession of hollow point bullets, accoring to Upper Saddle River police.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. when the Upper Saddle River Police Department received a call for an intoxicated suicidal man who had discharged a shotgun. Officers from Upper Saddle River, Allendale, Saddle River, and Montvale responded to the scene.

The Bergen County Regional SWAT. Team responded to the scene and initiated negotiations. At one point, the suspect pointed a loaded handgun out a second floor window in the direction of SWAT operators, police said.

At 4:37 a.m., the suspect exited his home and surrendered to authorities without further incident. Further investigation revealed the suspect fired two rounds inside his home prior to police arrival.

Numerous firearms were subsequently seized from the residence. The suspect was transported to New Bridge Medical Center by the Upper Saddle River Volunteer Ambulance Corps and will be transferred to the Bergen County Jail upon medical clearance.
