North Jersey Business Owner Admits Defrauding Maryland Company Of $20M
The owner of a Bergen-based barrel drum company admitted to defrauding a Maryland manufacturer out of more than $20 million, officials say.
PARK RIDGE, NJ — The owner of a Bergen-based barrel drum company admitted to defrauding a Maryland manufacturer out of more than $20 million over eight years, officials say.
Anthony P. Urcioli Sr., 78, of Park Ridge also admitted to filing a false tax return, costing the federal government $2.5 million over seven years, according to U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland Erek L. Barron's office.
Urcioli is the owner and president of Tunnel, Barrel & Drum Co, Inc. (TBD) in Carlstadt and a second company called Hartford Fibre Drum, Inc.

Barron's office said Urcioli and two employees of a New York company participated in a kickback scheme, overcharging the manufacturer in Maryland for drum containers they did not deliver.
Urcioli pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and filing a false tax return.

He faces a maximum of 23 years in prison with both charges combined.
