NJ Man Charged After Attempted Murder Of 79-Year-Old Former Prosecutor
Mohammad Ramadan is charged with attempted murder after officials say he struck former prosecutor Ira Levine in the head with a baton.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — A Rochelle Park man is charged with first-degree attempted murder after prosecutors say he struck a 79-year-old man in the head with a wooden baton in Fair Lawn on Tuesday afternoon. Fair Lawn police later confirmed that the victim was former borough prosecutor Ira Levine.
Mohammad Ramadan, 34, is also charged with aggravated assault and weapons charges. He was arrested on Wednesday, the Bergen County Prosecutor announced.
Fair Lawn Police responded to a report of a 79-year-old injured male located at 0-99 Plaza Road in Fair Lawn around 2:44 p.m. on Tuesday, later identified as Levine. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, where he was treated for head injuries.

"We wish our former prosecutor, Ira Levine a speedy recovery," the department said on Facebook.
An investigation conducted by detectives from the Fair Lawn Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit revealed that Ramadan attempted to kill the victim with a wooden baton.

No bond has been set for Ramadan, according to Bergen County Jail records.
