Bites Nearby: Fine Dining At The Brick House

Popular Wyckoff eatery offers great food in gorgeous setting

Upon walking into The Brick House at 179 Godwin Avenue in Wyckoff for lunch two thoughts went through my mind... what a beautiful place and why haven’t I been here before?

Aldo Cascio, owner of The Brick House, Aldo’s Italian Restaurant and Pane e Vino, met me at the door. I ordered an espresso and received the grand tour which included the Wine Cellar, Cigar Bar and the Banquet area. There are two kitchens that he built to accommodate the patrons who dine there. Their quaint nooks are perfect for intimate dining.

Built in 1851 as the Terhune House, this historical site has been transformed into a gorgeous restaurant and catering facility. The photos and maps that he found in between the rafters of the original infrastructure are proudly framed and adorn the walls.

Ordering from the lunch menu, the soup de jour which was lentil and a petite filet mignon were perfectly cooked and the steak melted in my mouth. With lunch I had a glass of Sterling Merlot. With 1200 bottles of fine wines imported from Italy and California arranged beautifully in the wine cellar, The Brickhouse offers over 150 varieties to choose from.

The lunch menu hosts a large selection of appetizers, salads, steaks, lamb chops, chicken, ribs, veal, sandwiches, fish, pasta and burgers. Their dinner menu on the other hand offers a more wide variety. Want to share a plate? Brick House has specialties for two. Chateaubriand, Fish Stew which includes calamari, mussels, clams, shrimp, lobster tail, scallops in a red sauce served over linguine, rack of lamb and more for only $74.95.
