A bomb squad was called in to investigate 12 suspicious packages strategically placed throughout Fair Lawn Saturday, police said.

A 27th Street resident notified police at 7:40 a.m. of the packages, which were placed at the center of intersections on Rosalie Street from Banta Place to 27th Street and beyond, police said.

Police arrived found the different-colored bags all the way up to 34th Street; a glass baby food jar with what appeared to an M-80 firecracker was found in each bag, police said.

Parts of Rosalie Street were closed and every street from Broadway to Raphael Street, as well, authorities said. Residents were told to stay inside until the packages were deemed safe.

The Bergen County Sheriff's Bomb Squad and Fair Lawn detectives responded and determined the firecrackers were just black candles; all streets were reopened at 11 a.m., authorities said.
