Music with Marv at the Fair Lawn Community Center
Dancing, Singing at the Fair Lawn Community Center
Thursday was a night to remember. Longtime Fair Lawn resident Marv Levitt filled the Community Center auditorium with music from the 1930s, 40s and 50s.
There was Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Sarah Vaughan, Dean Martin and many others singing tunes from classic Broadway shows. Shows like "Kiss Me Kate," "Guys and Dolls," "Pal Joey," "Annie Get Your Gun," all timeless classics.
Dancers hit the stage to cut a rug and several others at the gig started an impromptu sing along. Among the vocal stylists in attendance were Mayor Jeanne Baratta and Deputy Mayor John Cosgrove.

Being a baritone from Hudson County, New Jersey (and a Republican) I demonstrated my range on a few of the more up tempo numbers like "Makin' Whoopie", "Luck be a Lady," "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered," "The Lady is a Tramp," and "Anything Goes."
We carried on into the wee small hours, had a chance to relax in the theater and have a great time. The Community Center stage is very comfortable. Marv is working on a 1970s Disco collection as a possible event for the future.
