Temple Beth Sholom invites the community to participate in a special Scholar-In-Residence program for Slichot Shabbat. The Adult Education Committee will host Rabbi David Golinkin, President, Schecter Institute in Jerusalem on September 23-24. Does Jewish law permit genetic engineering on human beings? What does the commandment "Honor thy father and mother" tell us regarding the use of nursing homes for parents with Alzheimer's disease? What is the halakhic position on the right to privacy in the computer age? These are just some of the questions relating to contemporary issues which have been addressed by Rabbi Golinkin in recent years.
Rabbi Golinkin is a leading authority on Jewish Law in our time and has been Chair of Law Committee of the Rabbinical Assembly in Israel, which gives halakhic guidance to the Conservative movement.
