Fair Lawn Hosting Indoor Marching Band Show on Saturday
Sixteen ensembles from New Jersey and Pennsylvania will perform and compete in color guard, dance and percussion groups

—whose marching band has finished among top 10 schools in the country eight times over the past 10 years of outdoor competition—will host its first-ever United States Scholastic Band Association (USSBA) Indoor Percussion and Color Guard competition on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Sixteen ensembles from New Jersey and Pennsylvania will perform and compete in color guard, dance and percussion groups for an "action-packed afternoon of Indoor pageantry" that will also be the only indoor USSBA show held in Bergen County, according to a press release.
Fair Lawn was recently selected to host this event, the seventh stop on the 2011 USSBA Indoor schedule, which culminates with the 2nd annual USSBA Indoor Championships in Trenton in April.

“Another school was scheduled to host this show but due to a change in scheduling couldn’t do it, so we’re very excited about having the opportunity to not only perform but to host our first ever show,” Jamie Szeinberg, the Cutters’ Indoor Band Director, said in a statement. “We’re hustling to put everything in place to ensure that everyone coming out will have a great time and will also enjoy seeing our champion Percussion and Color Guard perform in a new setting.”
Unlike outdoor competition, where ensembles perform together as one unit, the indoor competition separates the color guards from the percussion. Fair Lawn will enter both a color guard and percussion group; in all, eight color guard units will perform in four classes followed by the sounds of thundering drums as nine marching, concert and standstill groups perform.
