Fair Lawn Man Seeks Donations for Pancreatic Cancer Treatment
Fair Lawn resident, husband and father of two young boys, Ephraim Atia, is seeking experimental pancreatic cancer treatment at a special clinic in Texas after doctors in New York said they could do nothing for him.

Seventeen months after Ephraim Atia was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer following a routine physical, his doctors at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center told the 44-year-old husband and father of two young boys that they can do nothing for him.
Recent scans show that his tumor has spread to his colon, located on major blood vessels that prevent it from being surgically removed.
Through a friend and fellow cancer patient, Ephi heard of the Burzynski Clinic, a controversial cancer treatment center in Texas where he was told he was a good candidate for treatment.

On Aug. 23, Ephi and his family left their Fair Lawn home and boarded a flight to Houston for treatment at the clinic, which costs approximately $500,000.
Ephi's family does not have the means to pay for his treatment and is seeking donations and support through a website, www.saveephi.org.

According to the latest post on the website, dated Aug. 31, Ephi's condition had deteriorated, forcing his hospitalization at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
He is suffering from an infection, severe pain and low white blood counts, and is being treated with intravenous antibiotics.
The family asks that well-wishers continue to send their thoughts and prayers for Ephi to overcome this setback so he can return to treatment.
Fair Lawn attorney Michael Baer has set up a trust fund for donations from contributors.
If you'd like to donate, mail a check made payable to either Ephraim Atia or Michael Baer, Esq., for Ephraim Atia to:
