Fair Lawn U11 Baseball Team Heads to AABC World Series
Cutters' win in state tourney earned them a trip to Brooklyn

The Fair Lawn Cutters U11 baseball team is heading to Brooklyn this week to represent the state in the AABC World Series.
“The kids did a great job to get there,” said Mike Cohen, an assistant coach with the squad. “It’s a thrill for them, really. A lot of the kids have been playing together since they were 8 years old.”
The AABC – American Amateur Baseball Congress – began in 1935 and holds state and regional tourneys with teams in various regions from across the country. The Cutters will be among 16 teams from 10 states competing for the championship.

Fair Lawn, which boasts a roster of 13 borough youngsters, went 5-0 in last week’s tournament to reach the World Series, which is a double-elimination competition.
“We mercied [defeated by at least 10 runs to cut short the game] our opponents in four of those five games, so our hitting is strong right now,” said Cohen.
