Forrest School Students Adopt a Platoon

The students used "Casual Friday" collections to purchase items for alumnus Brian Tarantino and his platoon serving in Afghanistan

In November, Forrest School's monthly "Casual Friday" collection was dedicated to purchasing items of need for Specialist Brian Tarantino and his platoon.

Tarantino, a Forrest alumnus and son of Forrest Physical Education teacher Mrs. Maureen Tarantino, is currently serving with his platoon in Afghanistan.

Student Council members (pictured above) worked with the administrative team (Mrs. Lockhart and Mrs. Sharlow) preparing packages for delivery.

In return, Brian thanked the students and principal Mike Weaver in an email sent from Afghanistan:

I want to thank you and your students along with my mother in adopting my platoon. Everyone gives their thanks along with a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the students and teachers. These packages are such a morale booster for everyone out here including myself. Again we would like to thank all the students who helped in packing these boxes. Everyone enjoyed all the cards that the students had made for us. Things like this make the holiday seasons a little bit easier on all of us. We thank you for your prayers too. Please send our gratitude to all your students and it does mean alot to receive these care packages.

Thank you so very very much! From Specialist Brian Tarantino and the Headquarters & Headquarters Company (HHC) 125th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Platoon Hellraisers, We are Wishing you a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. HOAAH!!

P.S. Can you give Mr. Schmidt a big hello from me. And let him know he is still one of my best all time teachers. Thank you.
