Man Robs Elmwood Park Gas Station Attendant, Flees Toward Fair Lawn
A white male stole approximately $450 from a gas station attendant late this afternoon at the A&S Gulf station at the intersection of Market Street and S. Midland Avenue, police said.

Elmwood Park police are investigating a robbery that occurred Saturday around 3:45 p.m. at the A&S Gulf Station on the corner of Market Street and S. Midland Avenue in Elmwood Park.
The suspect, a white male of medium build driving a cream-colored SUV, pulled up to the station, exited his vehicle and engaged the gas station attendant in conversation before snatching approximately $450 from the attendant's pocket, Elmwood Park Police Sgt. Marc D'Amore said.
Following a struggle, the unarmed suspect re-entered his vehicle and fled north on Midland Ave. toward Fair Lawn.

Police patrol units arrived at the gas station just one minute after receiving the victim's 911 call, but were unable to locate the suspect, Sgt. D'Amore said.
Elmwood Park Police continue to look for the suspect and have alerted neighboring police departments, including Fair Lawn, via the Statewide Police Emergency Network. Two Elmwood Police detectives are working on the case.

The gas station attendant suffered non life-threatening injuries during the robbery and declined medical attention at the scene.
