Borough OKs Sale of Non-Resident Memberships at Memorial Pool

In an effort to increase convenience and membership revenues at , non-residents will be able to purchase a full season pass this summer.

Councilwoman Lisa Swain suggested the idea at Tuesday's work session, which she said had come to her attention after speaking with a few residents. The suggestion was a hit with council members. 

"I like the sponsorship idea, I think it’s great," councilman Kurt Peluso said. "Especially for the grandparents and others that live outside [of Fair Lawn]."

Under the new non-resident membership plan, out-of-towners who purchase pool passes must be sponsored by a Fair Lawn resident, and each resident can sponsor only a limited number of non-residents.

The cost for non-resident passes has yet to be finalized, but it's expected to be substantially higher than resident passes -- which run $175 for a family and $85 for an adult individual. Preliminary discussion on the cost of non-resident pool passes ranged from $250 to $300 for a family and $150 for an adult individual.

Swain also suggested offering weekend-only passes to attract residents who want to use the pool on a more limited basis, but council decided to table the suggestion for now and stick with sponsored non-resident membership only this summer.
