MoleSafe Now Offering Extended Screening Hours at The Valley Hospital

With summertime officially in full swing, MoleSafe would like to announce its newly extended hours of operation at The Valley Hospital.

FAIR LAWN, NJ (July 9, 2016) – With summertime officially in full swing, MoleSafe would like to announce its newly extended hours of operation at The Valley Hospital. The new availability provides the community a greater opportunity to utilize the Skin Surveillance Program (SSP), the most accurate skin diagnostic screening.

“We recognize the critical importance that preventive care and early detection programs play in the health and well-being of our community,” states Iris Kopeloff, MD, at The Valley Hospital Melanoma and Skin Cancer Center. “That’s why we are happy to be working with MoleSafe to offer extended availability for patients and at-risk community members.”

As a company dedicated to delivering advanced, lifesaving skin screenings, MoleSafe has expanded its availability in an effort to combat melanoma—as well as other forms of skin cancer—through its SSP. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, accounting for the vast majority of skin cancer deaths. *

“We’re excited to make our services more readily accessible to the community,” states Kevin Sheridan, CEO, MoleSafe. “The technology we utilize in our program is crucial to early detection of skin cancer. We are happy to be making this change during a time of awareness for this terrible disease.”

Melanoma is cancer that grows in the cells of the skin that produce melanin—the pigment that gives skin its color. Though there is no definitive cause, overexposure to ultraviolent (UV) rays from the sun (or tanning beds) drastically increases the risk. * In addition, a person’s risk for melanoma doubles if he or she has had more than five sunburns.

Over the past three decades, more people have had skin cancer than all other cancers combined. In fact, it is estimated that 76,380 new cases of invasive melanoma will be diagnosed in the U.S. and 10,130 people will die of melanoma in 2016.

“No matter what time of year it is, skin is constantly exposed to potentially harmful amounts of UV rays from the sun,” says Sheridan. “We strongly encourage people to keep an eye on any changes happening on the skin’s surface. But, for true peace of mind, we recommend an SSP screening—which is the most thorough method of diagnosis— with the review of an expert dermatologist.”
