Nine Racers from Fair Lawn Complete Jersey Marathon

The many changes to the 2012 New Jersey Marathon including a new starting location and time, did not stop a huge number of runners and spectators from flocking to Oceanport and Long Branch on Sunday morning.

About 13,000 participants enjoyed a perfect day and trekked through the streets of several local towns as they raced to a finish on the Promenade in Long Branch.

Jason Page, of Durham, N.C., broke a course record that was set last year with a lightning fast time of 2:13:13.

Nine of Sunday's runners (three full marathon, six half-marathon) were from Fair Lawn.

Thomas Brown, 34, was Fair Lawn's fastest full marathon runner. Brown finished with a time of 3:17:07, good for 132nd overall and 27th in his division.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jessica Blum, who finished 19th in her division, was Fair Lawn's only female full marathon runner. She finished 523rd overall with a time of 3:43:25.

In addition to the New Jersey Marathon and Half Marathon, three Fair Lawn residents also participated in another half marathon on Sunday -- Escape to the Palisades. 

The race, completed by 468 runners, was held by the Pallisades Interstate Park Commission in the park that runs along the Hudson River from the George Washington Bridge up to Alpine.

Fair Lawn finishers include 28-year-old Anthony Fatuzzo, who finished 42nd overall, and a husband and wife duo -- Michael and Elaine Vann -- who ran the race stride by stride, finishing with the same time.
