How you can fill the seat (northjersey.com) — Fair Lawn's Board of Education has a vacant seat after trustee Anthony Elia resigned ahead of moving out of town, and the district is seeking a replacement. Residents who meet eligibility requirements can email a resume and letter of interest to jorge.cruz@fairlawnschools.org by Oct. 23, with the appointed member serving through December 2027.
   

2. NJ woman turns grief from attack in Israel into massive aid effort (mycentraljersey.com) — A Fair Lawn woman's shock on Oct. 7, 2023 led her from her living room to founding Operation Israel, which has supplied millions of dollars in protective gear and training. Former Fair Lawn ShopRite site approved for Hindu temple (news12.com) — A long-vacant former ShopRite on River Road in Fair Lawn is set to become a BAPS Hindu temple and community center, following planning board approval. The project will add classrooms, a prayer hall, assembly space, and over 300 parking spots, while nearby Walgreens and Sherwin-Williams are expected to stay as the adjacent shopping center gets exterior upgrades.
   

5. 18 People Accused of Stealing Artificial Turf From Vacant Fair Lawn Business (shorenewsnetwork.com) — Fair Lawn police are investigating an unusual case in which 18 people are accused of stealing rolls of artificial turf from a vacant business property on River Road. Authorities, working with the NYPD, are still determining the turf's value, why the group allegedly targeted the site, and any New York connections, while stressing all suspects are presumed innocent.
