Saddle Brook Cop Charged After 'High Speed' Chase: Prosecutor
The officer is suspended without pay, and the Saddle Brook Police Department is investigating the possible involvement of other officers.
SADDLE BROOK, NJ — A Saddle Brook police officer has been charged after the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said he led Ridgefield Police on a high speed chase, and was eventually able to evade them completely.
Andres Morales was charged with eluding, the prosecutor's office announced Thursday. Multiple reports confirm that Morales has also been suspended without pay.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, Morales fled from Ridgefield Police during a traffic stop on Oct. 3.

He led police on what the office called a high-speed chase on State Routes 46 and 80, before Ridgefield Police eventually ended their pursuit due to the "excessive speed and the danger to the pursuing officer and the general public."
In addition to Morales, two other Saddle Brook police officers have been suspended, with pay, "pending the outcome of the full investigation," according to the Prosecutor's Office.

Saddle Book Police Chief Robert Kugler gave Northjersey.com an update on the subject of that investigation, which involves those two officers, Lt. Victor Van Dyk and Officer Adam Georgaros.
"Further investigation is being conducted ... including our department's involvement and knowledge of the matter, as well as other law enforcement officers from other agencies," Kugler told the publication.
Morales is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 4.
