Victims Of Fair Lawn House Fire Identified
Marily Beasley, 67, and Marcy Strager, 60, were killed a fire at a group home Tuesday night, police said.

Authorities have released the names of the women who were killed and injured in a fire at a group home Tuesday night.
Marily Beasley, 67, and Marcy Strager, 60 died from smoke inhalation, Fair Lawn Police Sgt. Brian Metzler said. One of the women was found dead in her bed, the other was on the floor in her bedroom.
Elaine Demona, 69, and Dorothy Gerano, 54, also lived in the home and survived, police said.

Demona lived on the first floor and called 911 to report a fire on the second floor, Metzler said. The fire was sparked by a space heater.

Police arrived on the scene and saw Gerano screaming from a second floor window. Police had to use a discarded bed frame to climb up and extract her from the house.
“I just got next to her and said, ‘I’m not going to let you go,’” Officer Juan Rodriguez said.
The fire took an hour to knock down. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating what caused the space heater to catch fire.
