Walk to Support Finding a Cure for ALS in June

The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter will host the Walk to Defeat ALS in Saddle Brook on Sunday, June 3 at Saddle River County Park.

Residents interested in supporting the worthy cause of finding a cure for ALS can do so just around the way in Saddle Brook this June.

The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter will host the Walk to Defeat ALS in Saddle Brook on Sunday, June 3 at Saddle River County Park, located at 760 Saddle River Road. Check in is at 10 a.m. and opening ceremonies are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. 

Proceeds from the event will go to The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter, which plays a major role in fighting for an effective treatment and cure for ALS.

The June 3 walk, which is wheelchair and stroller accessible, will also include family activities like face painting, live music, refreshments and games.

ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as called Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. There currently is no cure and death often occurs within three to five years of diagnosis.
