Woman Extricated From Car After Collision on Broadway

Driver's side of woman's Toyota was totaled

A woman needed to be extricated from her car and was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center following a collision at the intersection of Broadway and Plaza Road on Thursday afternoon, police said.

The woman's gray Toyota and a white Cadillac driven by Mike Cangiolosi of Garfield collided while she was driving eastbound on Broadway, according to Cangiolosi's account of the accident.

Cangiolosi told Patch at the scene that as he drove on Plaza Road to cross the Broadway intersection, the cars driving on Broadway westbound to the left and to the right of his vehicle were all stopped.

"There's no way I ran a red light," Cangiolosi, who wasn't injured, said.

The entire driver's side of the woman's car was totaled. The was called to the scene to assist police with stabilizing the vehicle and moving it away from the intersection. Emergency responders then extricated the woman from the car and she was taken to the hospital, but police had no further details on her injuries or on the collision as the incident remained under investigation.
