BSA Troop 200 Holds Winter Court of Honor

Troop recognizes Scout achievements at 190th Court of Honor

Boy Scout Troop 200 recently held their winter Court of Honor at Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale. The masters of ceremony, Owen Maslanka and Bo Pardo, coordinated the ceremony and introduced the event’s speakers.

“The purpose of a Court of Honor is to periodically recognize the achievement of rank advancement and merit badges, and to share what our Troop has been doing,” said Maslanka. “We don’t know exactly how many Courts of Honors our Troop has held since we began in 1955, but if we’ve held three per year since our first Court of Honor in the Winter of 1956, this would be Troop 200’s 190th Court of Honor.”

Troop 200 Scoutmaster, Mike Marosy presented the new rank badges to scouts who advanced
in rank, including: Scouts Rusty Gauthier and John Strober; Tenderfoots Ian Bozzi and Bo Pardo; Second Class Owen Maslanka; First Class George Gregory; Star Justin Verlin; Eagle Zachary Majorossy. It was noted that Zack is the ninetieth Eagle Scout from Troop 200.

During the program, Senior Patrol Leader, Nate Nemeth gave an overview of troop activities before handing the microphone over to Aidan Berson, Cameron Lutz and John Martoccia who spotlighted three recent events including a recent meeting featuring three WWII veterans, the
troop’s trip to New York City where the scouts toured the 9/11 Museum and Memorial and a camping trip to NoBeBosCo where they hiked a portion of the Appalachian Trail.

Art Dunn, Hunterdon Arrowhead District Vice Chairman addressed the audience, reflecting
on his 50+ years of scouting and his personal experiences as a scout, parent, grandparent, and mentor. “I’ve seen firsthand the benefits of scouting,” he said. “Scouting is a fun, hands-on learning experience that prepares young men like these for today, for tomorrow and for life.”

Before closing out the meeting, Mr. Marosy welcomed Troop 200’s newest scout, Jeff Casalins, who bridged to Boy Scouts on February 23.
