Detecting BHB (the predominant ketone) is imperative for understanding if you or your loved one is heading into Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA).
Current urine ketone strips test for acetoacetate, which tells only a portion of the story regarding DKA. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) advises against using the current urine acetoacetate ketone test strips.
