Eighteenth-Century Ice Cream Making

Readington, NJ - Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Susan McLellan Plaisted, Proprietress of Heart to Hearth Cookery, will be at the Bouman-Stickney Farmstead for a hands-on ice cream program for the entire family! Ice cream will be made in a reproduction 18th-century sabotiere. To get the most hands-on experience, arrive at 1:00 pm to help prepare the ice, turn the sabotiere, and try just a taste. Documented 18th-century flavors will be reproduced using original receipts (recipes).

The Bouman-Stickney Farmstead is in the Stanton section of Readington. GPS address: 114 Dreahook Road, Lebanon, NJ 08833. Although there is no fee, donations are gladly welcome.
