County's LINK Operation

Hunterdon LINK Operating At Full Capacity Once Again Providing Transportation To County Residents

Hunterdon County’s LINK Transportation Service has operated throughout the COVID-19 health crisis and has recently returned to full capacity, Hunterdon County Freeholder Deputy Director Susan J. Soloway reported at a recent Freeholder meeting.

Freeholder Soloway, the Board’s Human Services liaison, said, “The LINK bus operation, which is vital for many county residents, particularly our senior community, has had limited seating capacity during the pandemic. But now the LINK buses are no longer limited to 50% capacity, as an executive order was approved last week to permit more individuals on public transport.

Returning LINK vehicles to full capacity will allow for increased mobility for those who rely on the service. LINK drivers are wearing face coverings and passengers must wear a facial covering while on LINK vehicles at all times.”

According to the County Department of Human Services, dialysis and all other medical appointments are fully available, but LINK vehicles are unable to provide service to COVID-19 testing sites.

“The Hunterdon County Freeholder Board provides this low-cost, grant-funded transportation system to help our people in need conduct their daily lives, and it has been a crucial service during the past few months while dealing with COVID-19,” Freeholder Soloway concluded.

No tickets or receipts and no change or bills for fares are being accepted currently. Removing the exchanges between drivers and passengers reduces the potential risk for COVID-19 transmission health officials advise.
