Flemington-Raritan School Board Approves Bond Referendum For November Ballot
The proposal was approved unanimously during a special meeting on July 30.
FLEMINGTON, NJ — The Flemington-Raritan Regional Board of Education has approved a $30.3 million bond referendum that will appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot, asking voters to fund facility improvements across the district's six schools.
The proposal, approved unanimously during a special meeting on July 30, includes renovations, equipment purchases, site improvements, and infrastructure upgrades at J.P. Case Middle School, Reading-Fleming Intermediate School, and the district's four elementary schools.
District officials said the New Jersey Department of Education has determined the project is eligible for 40% State Debt Service Aid, which would offset a significant portion of borrowing costs. The district also plans to issue the new debt as existing debt is retired, a strategy officials say is expected to minimize the tax impact on local property owners.

Superintendent Dr. Clifford Burns said the referendum will allow the district to address critical facility needs while taking advantage of state funding and expiring debt to reduce the financial burden on taxpayers.
