Flemington, N.J. – Hunterdon County Polytech Career & Technical High School invites prospective students and their families to a Virtual Open House on Saturday, Oct. 24, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The high school will present its first Open House in a virtual format using an interactive Google Site. Attendees will be able to view informational videos on each of Polytech’s 24 programs, as well as connect with program instructors, school counselors and admissions personnel in that 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. timeframe.

To register for the Oct. 24 Virtual Open House, visit polytech.hcvsd.org, and click on “Virtual Open House” in the right column under “Upcoming Events” to access the registration form. Although registration is not required, as the Open House Google Site also will be linked on Polytech’s website and social media, it is recommended. The school will send all registrants a reminder with the direct link to the Virtual Open House the morning of Oct. 24.

“We are optimistic that this new Open House format will benefit attendees by giving them the opportunity to explore even more of our career and technical programs,” said Tanya Nalesnik, director of grant management, admissions & security for Hunterdon County Vocational School District. “Although prospective students and their guardians will have a two-hour window to engage in live discussions, they can continue to access the Google Site at their convenience to watch videos showcasing our instructors and unique, career-focused learning spaces.”

Hunterdon County Polytech’s programs blend academics with career exploration and technical training in a range of areas, from healthcare to automotive and animal science to construction. Unlike a traditional high school, every one of those programs offers college credits, licensing, credentials, specific job skills or certifications. Students attend their home high schools for all academic requirements and are bused to Polytech for half-day programs. Polytech courses run for a full year to comprise 20 Career and Technical Education credits with most students starting as juniors.

New in the 2020-21 academic year, Polytech is offering its first full-time program in animal science. Students enter this program as freshmen, whereas the district’s shared-time programs, including a shared-time animal science program, are appropriate for juniors and seniors.

“We know that success often comes when you do what you love, so we help students explore career pathways that align with their interests and passions,” said Hunterdon County Vocational School District Superintendent Dr. Todd Bonsall. “We offer students the training and guidance to set college and career goals and then take purposeful steps toward achieving those goals. Our graduates leave us with both a plan for the future and the confidence and preparation needed to fulfill that plan.”
