Hunterdon County Vocational School District Open House Oct. 26
Learn more about diverse career-technical program offerings

Flemington, N.J. – Hunterdon County Vocational School District invites prospective students and their families to an Open House on Saturday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The district will present its range of career and technical programs and make staff and current students available to answer questions.
This district is holding its Open House earlier this school year to accommodate an accelerated application timeline. Applications for Polytech Career & Technical High School are now due by Dec. 15, the same day the application period ends for the district’s three full-time, science-based academies. All applications are accepted online through hcvsd.org.
“We are eager to open our doors and demonstrate how we meet the diverse needs, interests and goals of students across our county,” Dr. Todd Bonsall, HCVSD superintendent, said. “Our reputation is one of both career exploration and academic excellence. We are a good fit for any student looking to explore a passion or interest and take purposeful steps toward college, a career or both. Students come to us looking to pursue careers in medicine, graphic design, animal science, engineering, cosmetology, auto body repair, and much more. We have the programs and the people in place to help them do it and to find success at the end of their journeys.”

HCVSD offers five distinct schools, which include three full-time academies, an Adult & Continuing Education school and the largest of its five schools, Polytech Career & Technical High School. Polytech’s 12 core program areas allow students to explore career and technical options in a hands-on environment, while subprograms offer further specialization. Unlike a traditional high school, every one of those programs offers college credits, licensing, credentials, specific job skills or certifications. Students attend their home high schools for all academic requirements and are bused to Polytech for half-day programs. Polytech courses run for a full year to comprise 20 elective credits with most students starting as juniors.
Polytech will offer its first full-time program next year in Animal Science. Current eighth-grade students interested in this full-time offering can apply now for the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
