The man was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and other offenses after allegedly hitting a pedestrian, officials said.
CLINTON, NJ - A New Jersey man reportedly struck a 24-year-old woman with his car en route to confront his neighbors who were setting off fireworks, according to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by NJ.com.
Kevin Stephenson, 62, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, assault by auto and other offenses, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson announced Monday.
Stephenson is currently lodged in Warren County Jail awaiting a court appearance.

The charges stem from a Saturday night incident when, around 9:40 p.m., Stephenson drove his vehicle off the roadway and struck a 24-year-old woman at the intersection of Deer Path Road and Old Mountain Road in Clinton, Robeson said.
Stephenson’s wife called authorities before the incident, warning them that her husband was about to confront the neighbors about the display, NJ.com reported.

The woman, who was not immediately identified, was seriously injured, the publication wrote. NJ.com added that Stephenson’s Jeep Wrangler had “visible front-end damage, consistent with striking an object in front of the vehicle,” according to the affidavit.
