When Does School Start? Flemington-Raritan Posts 2026-27 Calendar

Classes begin Sept. 3, 2026 and end June 18, 2027, with conferences, recesses and PD days mapped out.

FLEMINGTON, NJ — The Flemington-Raritan Regional School District has released its 2026-2027 school calendar, with students returning to class Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, and the last day of school set for Friday, June 18, 2027.

Staff in-service days are scheduled for Sept. 1-2 before students arrive. Schools will be closed Sept. 7 for Labor Day and Sept. 21 for Yom Kippur. September also brings a series of back-to-school nights with early dismissals: grades 7-8 on Sept. 14, grades 5-6 on Sept. 16 and grades PreK-4 on Sept. 22.

In November, schools are closed Nov. 3 for a staff in-service and Nov. 5-6 for the NJEA Convention. Conferences bring early dismissals Nov. 16 (grades 5-8) and Nov. 17-20 (PreK-8). Thanksgiving recess includes an early dismissal Nov. 25 with schools closed Nov. 26-27, followed by a delayed opening for students Nov. 30.

Winter recess begins with an early dismissal Dec. 23, with schools closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 1. Classes resume Jan. 4, 2027. Schools are closed Jan. 18 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Feb. 12 for a staff in-service and Feb. 15 for Presidents' Day, with a delayed opening for students Feb. 8.

Spring recess runs March 26 through April 2. The calendar designates March 15, April 5 and May 28 as contingency snow days, used in that order if emergency closings occur. If March 15 is needed as a make-up day, it will be an early dismissal for students and an extended professional development day for staff. If more days are required, April 2, April 1, March 31 and March 30 would be reinstated, in that order. Schools are closed May 31 for Memorial Day.

The year wraps up with early dismissals June 16, 17 and 18, the last day of school. The calendar includes 180 student days and 187 teacher days, with three days allotted for emergency closings. The board approved the calendar Jan. 28, 2026.
