• Firefighters save landmark LBI restaurant after dumpster fire spreads to building (nj.com subscription) — Forked River firefighters were among several Ocean County departments that rushed to help contain a late-night dumpster fire that spread to the exterior of Wally’s restaurant in Surf City, preventing more serious damage. The blaze, which caused heat damage to a neighboring home, was knocked down in under 20 minutes, and the landmark eatery plans to reopen after repairs, with a GoFundMe supporting its staff meanwhile.
