Alleged Fort Lee Hit-And-Run Driver Charged

Carmen Lombardi, 42, was charged after he hit a 57-year-old woman at Lemoine Avenue and Bridge Plaza North, authorities said.

FORT LEE, NJ — A man was arrested after authorities say he drove away from a woman he hit at a busy borough intersection Thursday morning.

Carmen Lombardi, 42, was charged after Fort Lee Police, the Bergen County Sheriff's Office and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office investigated the 9:55 a.m. crash at Lemoine Avenue and Bridge Plaza North, said Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.

Police officers treated the 57-year-old woman at the scene before she was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, Grewal said. She is in critical condition.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash. The driver of the one vehicle stayed at the scene while the other vehicle fled on Bridge Plaza North, Grewal said. Authorities said Lombardi was driving the fleeing vehicle.

Lombardi was charged on a complaint summons and released. He is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Judicial Processing Court Friday morning, Grewal said.
