The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence said it was 'troubled' regarding Familia's arrest.
FORT LEE, N.J. — The anti-domestic violence PSA featuring New York Mets pitcher Jeurys Familia, who was arrested on domestic violence charges this week, has been taken offline.
Familia, 27, was one of several current an former New York athletes featured in the #NotAFan campaign sponsored by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, which is a joint effort with New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito. The campaign is designed to raise awareness about domestic violence among sports fans.
“Though we are troubled that yet again a prominent sports figure was arrested for domestic violence, we insist the New York Mets to remain committed in their stance against domestic violence and to adhere to the Major League Baseball’s policy on domestic violence,” Ruth M. Glenn, the coalition's executive director said in a statement.
