Bridgeman Fall to Cardinals
Fort Lee varsity football team losses convincingly to Westwood 48-20
Saturday night pitted two evenly matched teams against one another, as the Cardinals of Westwood took on the Fort Lee Bridgeman. Westwood came into the game hot, having dismantled both Englewood and Dumont in their previous two games, while the Bridgeman were looking to reach the .500 mark.
The Cardinals struck early with their potent ground game and opened up a 20-6 lead. However Fort Lee's Tyler Sanders and the rest of the Bridgemen refused to lie down, with Sanders racking up 62 yards recieving and 42 yards rushing, not to mention a 71-yard kick return, which brouhgt Fort Lee within one score.
By halftime Westwood had a comfortible 28-14 lead. After a 30-minute rain delay due to "thunder," which turned out to be Demarest Day fireworks, the Cardinals came out fired up and ready to build on their lead. Westwood's ground and pound game was lead by senior Pete Creamer, who ran for over 125 yards and scored four rushing touchdowns. Ryan Galloway of westwood--not to be out-done--added two touchdowns of his own.
