Bridgemen Soccer With a Nice Comeback Win
Fort Lee had a Strong Second Half to Defeat a Talented Ridgefield Park Team on the Road.
The Fort Lee Bridgemen Soccer team improved to 1-1-1 after a 3-1comeback win at the new Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park on Wednesday afternoon.
Ridgefield Park entered the game with a 2-0 record and took control of the first half, which was very defensive minded for both teams. Ridgefield Park’s Michael Wood ran in from about midfield and scored the first goal of the game and gave the Scarlets a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Fort Lee woke up in the second half after Alessio Guacci tied up the game at one apiece after a goal he scored off of a rebound.

Both teams then continued the strong defense as the game looked as if it was headed to extra time. That was until Bridgemen senior Nikola Gogic made a great kick near the goal at the 1:23 mark to give Fort Lee the lead for good. The final score was 3-1 after Fort Lee’s Ron Locker scored off of a penalty kick.
Bridgemen goalkeeper Matt Hernandez contributed with eight saves.

Head Coach Bob Ciccone knows that his team turned it on more in the second half, but he feels that there was another contributing factor to the well played second half.
“Actually I think it’s also the wind, said Ciccone. We were going against the wind in the first half. This is their home field and they’re good. It’s not like they’re not good. We get down 1-0 and guys took plays off, they didn’t hustle, they didn’t come back and then we did a little better job in the second half.”
The Bridgemen will return to action on Friday afternoon for another road game against a talented Dumont team. The team hopes that the momentum of this win will carry over.
