Fort Lee Man Allegedly Beat 5-Month-Old Son: Authorities
Baby was in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital Thursday after Yoseop Choi allegedly punched and violently shook the baby.

A 5-month-old Fort Lee baby remains in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital after his father, Yoseop Choi, allegedly punched and violently shook him “multiple times,” authorities said.
Choi, 38, brought the baby to Bellevue in cardiac arrest this week, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said in a news release Thursday.
Hospital officials called the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency, who contacted the Prosecutor’s Office Tuesday, which led to Choi’s arrest Wednesday, Molinelli said.

Authorities determined the baby was assaulted at Choi’s Linwood Avenue apartment, Molinelli said.
Doctors who examined the infant said he had a severe head injury and a rib fracture that was in the process of healing, Molinelli said.

Choi, a married student, was charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He was being held at the Bergen County Jail on $750,000 bail.
Choi must not have contact with the baby and surrender his passport if freed on bail, Molinelli said.
