Kiky Jewelers Hosts Chamber Event

The Greater Fort Lee Chamber of Commerce holds its second networking event of the year at Kiky Jewelers on Main Street.

The Greater Fort Lee Chamber of Commerce (GFLCOC) hosted another “dazzingly” successful networking event Wednesday at Kiky Jewelers. Over 30 people representing a variety of local businesses showed up for wine and hors d'oeuvres and to peruse the  merchandise just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Kiky Kim, the owner of Kiky Jewelers has proudly run his shop for over 30 years. Kim said he chose the location for the store because of its central appeal; it’s in the middle of everything. The jewelry store has earned a bit of fame throughout the years.

“I have many loyal customers that come from other towns,” Kim said.

These events are perfect for networking because they bring together local business owners who might not necessarily run into one another. Edgar Lee of AXA Advisors, a longstanding member of the chamber, spoke highly of the Chamber and its other events.

“The amount of time that you put into a chamber can come back to help you,” Lee said.

Douglas Feltman, owner and president of Home Helpers, was also in attendance. Unlike Lee, Feltman is a new member.

“I’m actually a new member but I’ve become very active,” Feltman said. “Anytime you meet new people [it’s good].”

Other members who fought the cold to come and network with fellow chamber affiliates were Michael Raviv of Hi Class Living Magazine (Englewood Cliffs) and Shari Herskowitz of Commercial Interiors by Shari, LLC (Englewood).

Greater Fort Lee Chamber of Commerce Program and Event Coordinator Margaret Maclay was happy with how the evening went, and was glad to see the chilly weather hadn’t dissuaded guests from coming.

“We purposely called this the ‘Winter Ice Breaker’ to encourage people to get out doors after they’d been stuck for however long because of all the snow and ice,” she said.

Although this was only the second networking event the chamber has hosted this year, Maclay mentioned a strong sense of support already forming for 2011.

“What I’m seeing here is a mixture of people from the community because it was publicized [locally] as well as chamber members we haven’t seen for a while at events,” she said.

Guests were treated to private viewings of pieces of their choosing, by the shop’s two top salespeople.

“People are actually finding some very nice pieces of jewelry for their significant other, which is sweet,” Maclay said.

The next event for the GFLCOC will be a basketball fundraiser tournament at the Fort Lee High School, March 19, 2011 from 10am – 2pm. The event will have local government officials, business owners, police & fire departments and of course high school students competing to raise funds for the high school’s Academy of Finance program.

Anyone interested in this event or other chamber events can reach the GFLCOC at 201-944-7575.
