Man Commits Suicide By Jumping Off GWB: Police

The man's body was recovered shortly after he jumped, police said.

FORT LEE, NJ — A man committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge Wednesday morning, the 14th confirmed suicide from the bridge this year, police confirmed.

Police responded to the bridge at 7:10 a.m. on a report that a man jumped from the lower level, said Port Authority Police spokesperson Joseph Pentangelo.

The man's body was found at 7:35 a.m. and was taken to Pier 125 in Manhattan, Pentangelo said. He was pronounced dead by New York City emergency medical personnel at 7:48 a.m. The man is thought to be in his 30s, he said.
