Pair Arrested After $57K Found Hidden In SUV In Fort Lee

Ernie Sosa and Xiomara Castillo were each charged with money laundering, acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo said.

FORT LEE, NJ — Two people were charged with money laundering while authorities conducted a narcotics investigation and stopped their SUV in Fort Lee recently.

Ernie Sosa, 33, and Xiomara Castillo, 32, both of Jersey City, were arrested during a narcotics investigation by county authorities, said acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Task Force was conducting the investigation Wednesday when they stopped a 2013 GMC Acadia Sosa and Castillo were in, Calo said.

Authorities found more than $57,000 in an electronically-operated, aftermarket hidden compartment inside the GMC, the prosecutor said.

Sosa and Castillo were each charged with third-degree money laundering. they were released pending an appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court, Calo said.
