FORT LEE, NJ — A Palisades Park police officer was arrested and charged Thursday with possession of steroids, cocaine and large-capacity ammunition magazines after authorities received a tip from the Palisades Park Police Department, authorities announced.
Richard J. Giacobone, 39, of Fort Lee, was arrested after the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office received information from Palisades Park police that one of their officers may be under the influence of illegal narcotics, said Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.
Members of the Fort Lee Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Confidential Investigations Unit and Narcotics Task Force investigated, Grewal said. Authorities got a warrant to search Giacobone's Fort Lee home.
