Procession, Wake Announced For North Jersey First Responder

A memorial for a Bergen County first responder and tow truck driver is scheduled for later this week.

MOONACHIE, NJ — A memorial for a Bergen County first responder and tow truck driver is scheduled for later this week.

Rob Thornton, 31, had been a member of the Moonachie First Aid and Rescue Squad since 2019. On February 12, he was severely injured while working his paid job as a tow truck operator for Nick's Towing.

His loved ones made the decision to take him off life support last week.

Visitation for Thornton will be Friday, March 4 from 4-8 p.m. at Macagna Diffily Onorato Funeral Home, 41 Ames Avenue, Rutherford, NJ 07070.

A tow truck procession will begin at 3:45 p.m., led by the Rutherford Police Department and other first responders.
