Tractor-Trailer Crushes Car In Turnpike Crash: State Police
The crash occurred near the Vince Lombardi Service Area in Ridgefield, State Police said.

The driver of a tractor-trailer was seriously injured when the vehicle ended up on top of a BMW on the New Jersey Turnpike in North Bergen Thursday morning, State Police said.
State Police responded the crash at 6:50 a.m., which was near the Vince Lombardi Service Area in Ridgefield, said Sgt. Jeff Flynn. TThe BMW driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was quickly removed from the car.
The tractor-trailer was on top of the BMW, said Lt. Theodore Schafer, who could not say exactly how the vehicle wound in that position.

Authorities could not provide an exact description of the crash or how it may have occurred.
First responders got the tractor-trailer driver out of the vehicle, Flynn said. The driver was flown to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark.

The Turnpike's northbound lanes were closed following the crash, but the left lane has since reopened, Flynn said. The other lanes remain closed for an investigation.
