Truck Driver With BAC 3 Times Legal Limit Crashes On GWB: Police

FORT LEE, NJ — A New York man was arrested after he drove drunk and crashed his tractor-trailer Wednesday night, police said.

Nurkhanov Bakhtiyor, 40, of Brooklyn, was arrested after police found him slumped over the wheel of the tractor-trailer on the westbound George Washington Bridge, said Joseph Pentangelo, a Port Authority Police spokesperson. The tractor-trailer crashed into a sedan.

Police roused Bakhtiyor and administered a field sobriety test, which he failed, Pentangelo said.

Police found two open bottles of vodka inside the tractor-trailer and learned Bakhyiyor's blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit of .08, Pentangelo said.

Bakhyiyor was charged with DWI, DWI in a school zone, having an open alcoholic beverage in vehicle and careless driving. He is due in Fort Lee Municipal Court March 13.
