FREEHOLD BOROUGH, NJ — A Keansburg man has been charged in connection with a shooting incident that took place Thursday in Freehold Borough, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said.
Kanye P. Faucette, 19, was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, prosecutors said.
On Thursday, April 30, at 4:21 p.m., members of the Freehold
Borough Police Department responded to the area of the Freehold Borough Public Library at 28 East Main Street for a report of gunshots.
Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, who was rushed to a local hospital for treatment and is now in stable condition.
Since the incident occurred on Thursday, the Freehold Public Library has been closed until further notice.
An investigation by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Freehold Borough Police Department identified Faucette as the suspect in connection with the incident.
The investigation further resulted in Heaven D. Holmes, 20, of Keyport, being charged with second-degree unlawful
possession of a weapon (handgun), and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, authorities said.
Faucette was found and arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Faucette and Holmes are being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI), pending future court proceedings.
