Freehold Man Pleads Guilty In Stabbing At Ocean County Apartment Complex (patch.com) β Freehold readers will recognize the name of a local 19-year-old who has now pleaded guilty to attempted murder, child endangerment, and eluding after a Thanksgiving 2025 stabbing in Jackson Township and a subsequent chase in Edison. Prosecutors say he has been jailed since his arrest and will face a recommended 10-year prison term under New Jersey's No Early Release Act when he's sentenced in October.

NJ Tennis Star Kicks Off U.S. Open With Birthday Win (patch.com) β Freehold Township residents have extra reason to follow the U.S. Open as hometown-born tennis star Amanda Anisimova celebrated her 25th birthday with a straight-sets first-round win. The township publicly cheered her on as she advances to the second round, highlighting her local roots despite moving to Miami as a child.

A trusted teacher's downfall: Inside the case that ended with prison (mlive.com) β A former Freehold Intermediate School teacher has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old student, a case prosecutors call one of Monmouth County's most serious educator misconduct prosecutions. The judge emphasized the deep breach of trust with Freehold families, and the defendant must register under Megan's Law, face lifetime supervision, and can never teach in public schools again.
