New Hackensack Meridian Health & Wellness Center at Freehold Brings Together Primary and Specialty Care
Freehold opening marks the seventh Health and Wellness Center across the network and second in Monmouth County

September 1, 2026 — Freehold, NJ — Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH), New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive health network, has opened the Hackensack Meridian Health & Wellness Center at Freehold, expanding convenient access to high-quality outpatient care. Located on Route 9 in the heart of Monmouth County, the Freehold facility is the network’s seventh Health and Wellness center, furthering HMH’s commitment to bring comprehensive, accessible care to the communities it serves.
“We know our patients lead busy lives, and accessing healthcare should be as simple and convenient as possible,” said Robert C. Garrett, FACHE, chief executive officer of Hackensack Meridian Health. “Through the opening of this wellness center, we’re reimagining the way care is delivered. HMH is offering more one-stop shops for our patients’ medical needs than ever before, and we’re proud to create a convenient healthcare experience that makes it easier for them to prioritize their health.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony marks the official opening of the Hackensack Meridian Health & Wellness Center at Freehold, which brings together a growing range of specialties and services, including:

"More than 90% of adults admit to delaying or skipping routine checkups and screenings every year, which is why expanding access to care is so essential," said Mark D. Sparta, FACHE, president, chief operating officer of Hackensack Meridian Health. “By establishing a health and wellness center that offers primary care, labs, X-rays, and various specialty services, patients can access a majority of the care they need by visiting one convenient location. This patient-centered approach to care makes it easier for people to stay on top of their health and ultimately builds healthier communities.”
Hackensack Meridian Health & Wellness Centers are now open at the following seven locations across the state:

Physicians at the Health & Wellness Center at Freehold will use the same electronic health record system as HMH hospitals and outpatient facilities, ensuring comprehensive access to patient information across all points of care and a continuum of care. If a patient visiting the Health & Wellness Center needs a higher level of care, in-network medical teams can seamlessly coordinate their transition to a hospital.
"Ambulatory care is an essential part of a connected, integrated health system,” said Daniel W. Varga, M.D., president, physician services division and chief physician executive, Hackensack Meridian Health. "It allows us to deliver high-quality care in a setting that is convenient for patients while still providing access to the world-class physicians, specialists, and full resources of our network.”
As part of its efforts to expand ambulatory care services, HMH opened the nation’s first Health & Wellness Center in a major travel hub earlier this year. Hackensack Meridian's Health & Wellness Center at Metropark, a $200 million project built alongside New Jersey Transit's second-busiest train station, offers patients the flexibility to go to an appointment before commuting to work or after commuting home in the evening.
“Just months after opening a first-of-its-kind Health & Wellness Center at Metropark, Freehold marks the latest step in our continued expansion of convenient, comprehensive care across New Jersey,” said Michael Geiger, senior vice president of ambulatory care and network development at Hackensack Meridian Health. “Centers like this bring high-quality, compassionate care to those in the community who need it most.”
