FREE Bone Density Screenings
Tuesday, March 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
No bones about it – bone health is an important part of overall health. Join health coaches from the Center for Healthy Aging at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus to receive your free bone density screenings and learn more about your bone health. These free screenings will be offered at the County Connection at the Ocean County Mall, located at 1201 Hooper Avenue in Toms River. For more information, call 732-575-0452.
Breaking Down Nutrition Labels
Monday, March 23 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Do you know what the key parts of a nutrition label are or what you should specifically pay attention to? In conjunction with National Nutrition Month, Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus’ Center for Healthy Aging presents Breaking Down Nutrition Labels to answer these questions and more. Attendees will learn about recommendations from the Food and Drug Administration as well as strategies to make healthier food choices. The program will include a question-and-answer session and light and healthy refreshments. This program takes place at the Ocean County Library, Manchester Branch located at 21 Colonial Drive in Manchester. Registration is required by calling 732-657-7600.
Osteoporosis 101 and Free Bone Density Screenings
Tuesday, March 24 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Osteoporosis affects men and women of all ages. The Center for Healthy Aging at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus will host a presentation on osteoporosis and discuss risk factors and how to recognize its signs and symptoms. Free bone density screenings and refreshments will be provided following the presentation, which takes place at the Ocean County Library, Manchester Branch located at 21 Colonial Drive in Manchester. Get Heart Healthy!
Wednesday, March 25 from 10 a.m. to noon
Approximately 42.2 million Americans age 60 and older have one or more forms of cardiovascular disease. In recognition of American Heart Month, the Center for Healthy Aging at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus, in cooperation with the hospital’s Pharmacy Department, will host a discussion on heart disease prevention strategies and treatments. Led by Barbara Greenberg Schwartz, RPh, CCP-Community Outreach Pharmacist, the discussion will cover the top five heart medication classes and their functions. Attendees are encouraged to wear red to this program taking place at the Ocean County Library Brick Branch located at 301 Chambers Bridge Road in Brick.
